We are the concrete cows !

When I put this picture on Facebook it scared me to find its facial recognition software knew who I was with ! Not sure that I am comfortable with that !

Anyway.....................

NO - we are NOT The Concrete Cows. The concrete exists between the ears of Milton Keynes (NOTE I say
Milton Keynes and NOT Bletchley) politicians. To be fair NOT all politicians - there are a couple of notable loving exceptions - just MOST of Milton Keynes Cowboy Council Members !

I will explain as we go along and will also explain why Jelena is here stroking a pig !

Facebook may have been able to look into our faces - Josh - The UGLY old man - Mrs Josh but it could not
look into our hearts.

We went to Argos in Central Milton Keynes as Jelena needed to get a new phone. By the way none of we three use smart phones - smart people do not need smart phones !

Outside Argos we fund a homeless rough-sleeper. Jelena went over to speak to him then we all
engaged with him. A lovely man, a Romanian. I have been to Romania, I drove an aid truck there when Eastern Europe opened up. Jelena, of course, is Russian - we know traditions from the area. One of those traditions is to place a hand on the chest over the heart. This man's command of English was not good but he kept touching his heart. Jelena is on the case, we have reported his whereabouts and she will find help for him.

I joked a while back that Bletchley should BREXIT Milton Keynes. Should we have a vote on that ? I've a better idea - Bletchley & Fenny Stratford Town Council should make a take over bid for Milton Keynes. It certainly would be a better place if it did !

I have in my e-mail inbox this morning a lovely
message from a member of Bletchley & Fenny Stratford Town Council offering gifts for our 14th September  event supporting Milton Keynes Winter Night Shelter.

I have not been about that much this week. On Monday I had some dental surgery from which the anesthetic has knocked me up and left me feeling unwell. Still a bit poorly today. However, if I am not around tomorrow it will not be because I am poorly but because I am in a police cell !

Tonight I am going to the meeting of Milton Keynes Cowboy Council's planning committee. I am going to
give members a hard time about two issues under discussion.

There is a proposal which will, in effect, destroy the legacy
of The Dankworths and their gift to Milton Keynes of The Stables.

The very first record I ever spent my pocket money on was African Waltz by Johnny Dankworth.

Also up for discussion is a plan, which if passed, will seriously harm Bletchley town centre. Milton Keynes Cobwoy Council you may have ruined the centre of Milton Keynes but keep your hands off Bletchley town centre !

I'll try not to lose my temper tonight and avoid arrest but members of the planning committee help me by using your hearts this evening and NOT the reinforced concrete between your ears !

We drove past The Hub in Central Milton Keynes
yesterday. As I said in a letter to every member of Milton Keynes Cowboy Council's planning committee a demented three legged frog with a box of Lego could have come up with a better design than that. BUT what is more serious is the three legged demented frogs on the planning
committee which gave permission for the damn monstrosity to be erected in the hideous first place !

As you know the three of us were in London a week ago. It was damn hot but thank goodness we went on Wednesday and not Thursday when the heat brought down train power lines and caused chaos !

The Shard is the tallest building in Europe, scared me
silly going up there but it is a building of character and design, not like the carbuncles Milton Keynes Cowboy Council gives planning permission for !

Last week was EARTH EQUAL DAY. The day in the
year when we reach the point in the calendar when we have used up more of the planet's resources than we will replenish during the entire year. If Central Milton Keynes had its way this would be reduced to January 1st !

The heat we experienced in London was as a result of global warming. Central Milton Keynes is doing its very best to destroy our planet !

Driving through Central Milton Keynes Jelena commented: Yes, there are trees but why not fill the area between them with bushes ?  Line every road
with something to reduce the hideous carbon footprint of Central Milton Keynes ?

During the day we went to McDonald's where we refused to pay lip service to their marketing ploy so denied their paper straws in a PLASTIC cup top !

So what with all these pig pictures ?

Facebook I bet you can't face recognise their names can you ?

Can you look inside their hearts ?

Just outside Milton Keynes in Newton Longville you will find THIRTY-EIGHT pigs in Curly Tails one of only two pig rescue centres in the country.

It is run with LOVE and it gives out LOVE.

Josh has taken loads of pictures and shot a lot of video footage which I am now tasked with turning into a YouTube feature.  Josh I know you love this tune, I am not sure it will fit properly. What do you think ?

If I am feeling well enough today we are going out in search of material for a new book I want to write WE ARE THE CONCRETE COWS.

As you may know people are paying stupid money to get their hands on copies of my out of print book
looking at the adolescent new city of Milton Keynes. Josh thinks it wrong that I am not getting a cut from this silly money but no I am not.

The three of us are taking pictures of legends in Milton Keynes for me to write a follow up WE ARE THE CONCRETE COWS.  This will be a long project, possibly taking anything up to two years.

Here's a picture Jelena took last week for the project. Recognise it ?  Train tracks in Bletchley. How is that a legend ?

One week today, Thursday 8th August the camera is going outside Milton Keynes to Bridego Bridge, the scene of The Great Train Robbery. Thursday 8th August will be the 56th anniversary of the robbery. The train was towed into a siding in Bletchley for the police to investigate.

There are so many, many legends in Milton Keynes we will be lucky if we do finish the research within those two intended years.

August 2021.....

Where will Earth Equal Day be in that year ?  How many more monstrosities will Milton Keynes Cowboy Council have given planning permission for ? Do you think we will have managed to BREXIT the EU by then ? How deep into our lives will Facebook be able to pry then ?

One thing is certain, well two really.

We three will still be doing what we are doing to praise where praise is due and to encourage concrete cows to get real and show love.

Curly Tails Pig Rescue is a legend in its own right and will have a prominent part - a big part in the book. Sod the concrete cows Curly Tails are REAL pigs, pigs of love.

There is more to a football club.........

Which football club do you support ?

Before you answer let me suggest to you that there is more to a football club than two goal posts and a bit of grass between them.

I am going to invite you to add something to your club this season, something far more valuable than winning The Barclays Premier League !

An audience with The Queen would not get in the way of
something I have in my diary for Saturday 10th August, something written in red letters.  I am going up to Hillsborough to watch Sheffield Wednesday thrash Barnsley in the opening game of the season.

What do you reckon ? Sheffield Wednesday 4  Barnsley 0 ?

Most football clubs have an anthem, we have TWO at Sheffield Wednesday.  Here's a club anthem I rather like.

Two seasons ago I ran a little project I am rather proud of. A small group of us sponsored the boys at Wednesday for
every goal they scored sending the  money to Ronald McDonald House to help care for families with a child sick in Birmingham Childrens' Hospital.
It is true you know I never broadcast a radio show without my
Wednesday scarf.  That scarf has been seen in some rather iconic places ! Let's have another club theme shall we ?  Two clubs squabble over this, each claiming it as their own. Do you know which clubs ?  Do you ?

AND..........................

Last season I had a plan to run another goal sponsorship project for the boys at Hillsborough but, embarrassingly, I did not get my act together.

Let me explain what I am going to do this season, starting with the victory at Hillsborough on Saturday 10th August. I
then want you do do something similar with the club you support.

OK..................

First of all which good cause/causes do you support.  I have selected three: Milton Keynes Winter Night Shelter, The Food Bank and children who are sick in hospital - specifically those in Sheffield Childrens' Hospital.

Now decide your good causes.................

Go on......................

Throughout the season I will sponsor the goals scored at every game, home and away. Sponsorship will be for Wednesday on a rota:

Saturday 10th August - Home to Barnsley - Milton Keynes Winter Night Shelter
Tuesday 13th August - Home to Bury - Milton Keynes Foodbank
Saturday 17th August - Away to Millwall - Sheffield Childrens Hospital

The three causes will then rotate across the season's fixtures
in my diary and bank account.

Sort your club's fixtures and write them in your diary while I play Wednesday's second adopted anthem.

Go on - get to it.

IMPORTANTLY after each game you have to write two letters. The first you send to the players at your club thanking them for scoring the goals. THEN you write to the good cause as you send the money to tell them about the game and name the goal scorers.

Let's say your club scores an average of two goals per game and you sponsor each goal for £5. That's a tenner for your good cause - yeh !

Then share what you have done on social media to encourage more people to sponsor
goals in their club.

One hundred people taking part would send an average of £500 to good causes each game. How many games are there in the season ?  How many people will attend those games.

Come on.........................

THERE IS MORE TO A GAME OF FOOTBALL THAN TWO GOAL POSTS AND A BIT OF GRASS BETWEEN THEM.

Time now to play what is the most famous of all club anthems
but I am not going to play the Gerry And The Pacemakers Version.  This is by Black Lace. It starts off with the Rod Stewart song SAILING. We are all sailing along on the ocean of life. Many a day the sun is shining and the sea is calm, it's a wonderful experience.  But when the wind comes, when the storm rages and the ship is in danger of sinking it is then you need to feel the arm of a friend around you saying YOU'LL NEVER WALK ALONE.

Facebook Free Friday

Did you think I had been abducted ? A day with no posts on Facebook. Do you know I actually received a message from Facebook checking up on me !

YESTERDAY WAS FACEBOOK FREE FRIDAY. I closed the laptop down for a day then tried to chill (Literally) after all of the heat.

Returning today, Saturday, to social media I want to explain something.

In May 2017 I embarked on a series of activities in memory of my daughter Rebekah. In January 2018 Josh and Mrs Josh started to help me. In May 2019 I retired from running these events. Some folk think I did a U Turn and came out of retirement after only a couple of weeks. NO - what is happening now is DIFFERENT.

Josh and I are COMMUNITY ACTIVISTS. Josh and his Missus come as one - Josh without Jelena is nothing,
together they are a powerful force so when I speak about Josh I refer to not one person but TWO.

We are NOT going to be running a series of activities as happened in the past but will be undertaking ADVENTURES which we will use to raise awareness BIG TIME of needs within society.

Josh is 28 years old. Mrs Josh is 32 years old. Add their ages together and you still fall short by 8 years of Yours Truly. I hate being old !

Have you seen this video ?

On Friday 17th May I was taken into a little room at University Hospital Milton Keynes and told Jelena had
a much less than 50% chance of survival. I then had the job of telling Josh who just broke down into tears. Six weeks later that video was made as a tribute to the amazing doctors and nurses at the hospital. WATCH IT !

You can not get a cigarette paper between us when it
comes to our opinions. We do not need to discuss anything as we know we are in united agreement. That gives us a force to be reckoned with when it comes to our work.

We went to the cinema to watch The Lion King. Outside at the end of the film we were UNITED in our opinion of the film.

You can hear Josh giving that opinion on the podcast of our radio show.

Listen to the opening track. We have plans to use that in an ADVENTURE during the coming week. An adventure to raise awareness for a
special cause.

Now we have to make an apology. We will not be broadcasting a show this coming Monday. At 8am I will be in the dentist's chair having surgery. I would much rather be in front of the microphone. We did try to pre-record but things just did not happen as they should. SORRY.

We went to see another film - YESTERDAY. OMG how
we loved that ! So much that last Wednesday saw us at Abbey Road Studio in London.

Have a look at this video.

We left behind a copy of SMILE which we will be using as part of our mission as community activists.

Mrs Josh made sure the entire world knew Abbey Road was no longer famous for John, Paul, George and Ringo but for David, Josh and Jelena !

Leaving Abbey Road we grabbed a bit of lunch. The phone rang.

"It's AAAA from BBB, is it a convenient time to talk about CCC ?"

OMG did that really happen ? We are engaging politicians at a high level as we seek to raise awareness and stop people who put ticks in boxes doing just that - ticks are people !

Lunch over we did something I have wanted to do for years. My friends made it happen. Watch this video.

We know exactly how we are going to use that to support an area of our society.

The day before we went to London we went into Campbell Park Milton Keynes. We were on a mission. That mission was a success, we found what we were looking for. Help is now on the way to the resident of this tent.

There is another tent in another park in Milton Keynes which was not on the radar. It IS on the radar now.

Mrs Josh will tell you how she remembers when we first met I shared a poem with her. This poem is central to our work.

Please watch the video.

I am terrified of high places, it is a phobia I have had since I was a child. My friends took me to the top of the highest building in Europe.  I was scared stiff but I did it. We will be using this to tell those we seek to support that anything is possible. Yes, I did get to the top but I did not hang out of the window with a camera as Josh did.

Another video for you to watch.

It was flippin' hot in London last week you know but not as flippin' hot as our politics !

We are extreme right wing socialists !

We believe in and love people but the ONLY way you can stop the sad generators of red tape who think ticks in boxes is what it is all about and who never stop to think those ticks are people is from the far right.

The loony left talk the talk but do not take even a first step to walk the walk.

Yes, Prime Minister Boris you can count on us and we are counting on you.

We are campaigning to save the planet and have weapons you can use.

We have already embarrassed Milton Keynes Cowboy Council to turn
down its lights. Boris we need you to get them to switch them off.

We have McDonald's in our line of sight !

Where is the mentality in introducing pathetic paper straws when they fit into cups where the tops are made of plastic ?

Ticks in boxes again ?  This time ticks to make a failing corporation look better.

We will be urging customers of McDonalds to refuse their silly paper straws and tell them to keep their plastic cup tops. Neither are needed to drink from a cup !

We are starting to tour some of the landmarks in Milton Keynes. Last week we went to The Peartree Bridge Dinosaur and had a conversation with a couple of teenagers we met.

This planet of ours needs saving for them and their children.

Here's a date for your diary - SATURDAY 14th SEPTEMBER - Milton Keynes Irish Centre 8am to
11am. There will be a stall at the car boot sale giving things away in return for love.....Love for Milton Keynes Winter Night Shelter and its coming season loving our homeless and rough-sleeping friends.

The Mayor is coming. We will be issuing an invitation to every single elected council member to get off their backsides and join us. Let's see how many can be bothered. Let's see how much love they
have for the homeless and rough- sleeping friends in this city.

People are attacking our new prime minister because he is not perfect. NO HE IS NOT but he is passionate and loves both this country and we people who live in it.

Here's a picture of another three people who are not perfect - far from. You know what ?  We are not ashamed of being imperfect, of the failures in our lives. As with Prime Minister Johnson it is the failures and mistakes that give the passion and the love to help others.

Both Josh and I are writers. I am working on my latest book, currently scribbling around three thousand words a day.

Josh has been writing his autobiography since January 2018 !  He will write a few thousand words then misplace the papers. Last week I went to the pound shop and got him a notebook to write in.

When we were at Abbey Road my incredible friends got me a notebook to scribble my writing in. They spent £25 !

How can I scribble anything into a book that is so precious ?

I told them I would keep it, save it until I came up with a use which would reflect their love.

Yesterday we met up at McDonald's to plan our ADVENTURES for the coming week. YES, Josh did tell McDonald's he did not want their paper straw and
plastic cup top ! As we sat looking at the videos played above a McDonald's employee pretended to be wiping the tables as he watched the laptop with us.

The notebook is in the style of The Beatles White Album.

Sitting in McDonald's I came up with the perfect use for this loving gift. We are going to make it our AUTOGRAPH BOOK.

Everyone who comes on an ADVENTURE with us, everyone whose path we cross as COMMUNITY ACTIVISTS will be invited to sign our autograph book.

Will you sign it ?

One last picture.

This was taken at Bletchley Railway Station as we set off for our adventure in London.

JUST BE A GOOD PERSON...

LOVE WHO YOU CAN...

HELP WHERE YOU CAN...

GIVE WHAT YOU CAN....

Thank you London Northwestern Railway THANK YOU.
