I probably would not have mentioned this but for lovely friends posting on Facebook asking if I was OK. YEP, I am.
So today I want
to talk about OWLS - TINS and STUFF then to get my act together and respond to the now 70+ kind offers of things for Josh & Jelena's new home.
On Saturday at three o'clock Sheffield Wednesday FC kick off in the first game of the season against Wigan Athletic. What will be the score ?
COME ON WEDNESDAY - COME ON WEDNESDAY !
Last season we ran a little project where we invited friends to sponsor the goals the boys at Hilsborough scored with
money going to Ronald McDonald House in Birmingham to help care for families with a child sick in hospital.
This season we are going to make this a little bit different.
For every goal the boys scorer we will take £1 from our car boot sale income, £1 for Ronald McDonald House attached to Birmingham Childrens Hospital, another £1 for Sheffield
Childrens Hospital and £1 for Ward Five in Milton Keynes Hospital.
We will put the money into a piggy bank then at the end of the month send it to the three hospitals for them to buy something for their wards.
This is not going to be a fortune but it will be a direct act of love from our boot sales and form part of the Let's Inspire
project LOVING OUR NHS.
Rebekah was a Sheffield Wednesday Supporter. Yesterday, helping Josh take the last of his and Jelena's belongings to their new home I did smile when I saw his Sheffield Wednesday
scarf in prime position on display in the kitchen !
In August Wednesday will play:
Saturday 4th - AWAY - Wigan Athletic
Saturday 11th - HOME - Hull City
Thursday 16th - AWAY - Sunderland
Sunday 19th - AWAY - Brentford
Wednesday 22nd - HOME - Millwall
Saturday 22nd - HOME - Ipswich Town
We have a lot of ideas to support these three childrens hospitals. Let's kick off the first on Saturday.
Come on boys - LOTS OF GOALS !
We have a Food Bank collection point running successfully at both our Saturday and Sunday Boot sales. We have also set up a collection point in West Bletchley Community Centre and are working With Bletchley & Fenny Stratford Town Council to run three rock and roll parties at Bletchley bandstand to collect gifts.
Time to upgrade the collection points at the boot sales.
Starting on Saturday for every £10 we take on the boot sale we will buy a tin or packet of love to add to the box.
We do not have a vast amount of STUFF to sell this coming week-end but we have set a target of £200 meaning from that money we will buy 20 tins for The Food Bank.
We'll talk about STUFF in a moment but before then here's a picture of our collection point in West Bletchley Community Centre.
Saturday at Bletchley Irish Centre and Sunday at Milton Keynes Bowl are bringing in money to help cover admin costs for all we are doing - NOT A SINGLE PENNY IS TAKEN FROM THE CASH GENERATED FOR OUR GOOD CAUSES - to put some
money into Josh and Jelena's pockets as they work with us and rebuild their lives. Now we will be spending money directly on two Let's Inspire Projects.
Josh is wanting to add a third day into the weekly diary. At the Saturday sale, directly opposite us, is a stall run by The Salvation Army. The Sally Ann also has a stall every Thursday on Bletchley Market. We are considering asking Bletchley and Fenny Stratford Town Council if we could so the same. That would enable us to increase the money we give to the Let's Inspire projects we already have running and to bring on-line others a little more quickly then we currently intend.
BUT IT ALL COMES DOWN TO STUFF !
So much kindness from so many people enabled us to attend seven sales last month and make £469.30
We want to attend 8 sales in August and have set an ambitious target of £800.
PLEASE could we have the unwanted STUFF handing about in your cupboards, loft, garage and shed ?

OK - time now to check this page and eliminate the typo's - those I leave behind are for people who take delight in finding them.
Then I will start contacting the 70+ friends who are offering furniture for Josh and Jelena's new home.
