Making a plan

At the top of my DOINGS LIST for tomorrow is to take the two 7" vinyl singles of Jeff Beck singing Hi Ho Silver lining and Guy Mitchell Singing The Blues to the framing company to make the presentation gift for Sheffield Wednesday Football Club as a thank you gift for their support to OurRebekah.

We will then take the finished gift to Hillsborough on Saturday 18th November where radio presenter Tony from Secklow 105.5 will present it to the club mascots Ozzzie and Barney.

Hopefully, Tony will have with him two students from a school to join in making the presentation.

We have within our Sheffield Wednesday project a bit of fun where we sponsor the goals the team score to support Ronald McDonald House in Birmingham. This presentation will mark the start of moving the project to a slightly higher level.

We want to find 50 people who will become BRUMMIE OWLS and sponsor every goal  the club scores for £2.  We need to find 50 Brummie Owls so every goal becomes £100 for Ronald McDonald House in Birmingham.

BRUMMIE because the project is supporting the Birmingham House and OWLS because Sheffield Wednesday FC are known as The Owls. Ozzie and Barney, of course are owls.

With the gift we will be taking a card, specially made by Moonpig, which we want to fill with signatures of those who are involved in OurRebekah on a practical basis or support what we are doing for Ronald McDonald Houses with their love. Will you sign the card ?

Right - let's make the plan.

This is the front of the card.  Looks good doesn't it. A montage of Birmingham, an owl and the OurRebekah logo.

Inside the card, right now, it looks a bit blank. Too much white !

When Tony, his wife Susan, and I met for lunch on Friday to discuss the presentation they signed the card. It was my mother's 90th birthday yesterday so I took the card to her party and asked family members to sign it.

This week I will take the card and ask some good friends of OurRebekah to sign it.

Sunday 15th October is a BIG DAY for us. We have a team taking part in The Big Fun Run. With money a friend is waiting to process through the bank tomorrow the credit to the Just Giving page we will have topped ONE THOUSAND POUNDS for Ronald McDonald House - Evelina, London.

I will take the card to the run and ask all taking part to sign it.

On MONDAY 16th October I will put the card in the post to Ronald McDonald House Charities office in London. Nicola, would you be so kind as ti ask as many of the team there to sign it. Can you also walk along to Paul Pomroy's office and ask him to add his name. He knows about OurRebekah and by the time you receive the card he will be expecting to add his signature. If any of his fellow McDonald's executives wish to add their names that is fine.

Would you please be so kind as to have the signatures added by the end of Wednesday.

That will be Wednesday 18th October. I will send you a stamped addressed envelope with the card. Could you then pop it in the post to Libby at Ronald McDonald House in Birmingham.

Libby could you pass the card round your fantastic team in The Mansion of Love and ask them to add their names. If any families wish to sign that would be good.

If you could get that done by the end of Monday 23rd October and pop it in the post to Bristol I would be grateful. I will send you a stamped envelope to send the card to Linny in Bristol.

Linny if you could do the same in your house and return it to me by say Friday 27th October it gives me time to take it to the nursery where Beck worked, to The Mayor of Milton Keynes, our MP and those in the hospital who helped Rebekah.

By the time Tony and I take the card with the presentation gift to Sheffield it will be packed
with love.

Sheffield Wednesday's next game is on Saturday 14th October away to Bolton Wanderers.

There are then games:

Saturday 21st October - Away to Derby County
Saturday 28th October - Home to Barnsley
Tuesday 31st October - Home to Milwall
Saturday 4th November - Away to Aston Villa

I have been sending THANK YOU cards to the players who score the goals. This is now going to be passed to Ronald McDonald House in Birmingham to send the cards.  Libby, I will make sure you have LOTS of cards for these games so you can start sending them from Saturday 14th onward.

Then comes toe game on the day of our presentation.

Linny, we need to talk and come up with an idea to use the game as a way to promote OurRebekah supporting Ronald McDonald House Bristol.

By the time we make the presentation the Brummie Owls will be increasing in number. I want to do this slowly, slowly and NOT to invade the team's fan base.  It does not matter which football team you support you can still be a BRUMMIE OWL.

Also on my Doings List, and something I have been putting off for far too long, is to go and see the Operations Director at MK Dons FC. The Dons were very, very good to us and must be wondering why we are ignoring them and allowing Sheffield Wednesday to go into orbit !

It's just that Rebekah was a Sheffield Wednesday fan herself.

I have something which I hope both Sheffield Wednesday and MK Dons will like.

THE BIG SMILE CUP

In the run up to the 2018/2018 season we put on a friendly game between the two clubs. NOT with players but with supporters. We do not play in Hillsborough or Stadium MK but on a pitch in a local park where people passing by can stop and watch.

We actually have TWO games, one in Sheffield and on in Milton Keynes.  Players make a donation to be in the team with all money going to Ronald McDonald House in Birmingham.

We keep it simple, we keep it fun, we pack the game with love.

The winning team across the two games takes home THE BIG SMILE CUP.

Does that sound like a bit of fun to you ?

Do you think it makes for a good plan ?
